Meet the Team

Malia received a Master’s in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Adams State University, after work in early childhood education, and domestic violence. Malia has experience working with victims and child witnesses to domestic violence, as well as utilizing play therapy techniques to elicit process and integration with children whose language is play.   

Malia is certified in Sand Tray Therapy through the Sand Tray Training Institute of New Mexico. Malia is Certified in EMDR, and is working towards certification in Attachment Focused EMDR.  
Malia is passionate about working with people of all ages who have experienced trauma. 
Malia’s perspective is a person-centered approach, which is colored by a trauma-informed lens, and her theoretical underpinnings include neuroscience-based findings which inform her therapeutic work. Malia believes wholeheartedly that we are all seeking wholeness and that it is the work of the therapist to facilitate this natural drive in her clients.

Malia believes that the client is the expert in their own journey and that the therapist is along as a traveling companion and a compassionate witness. Malia is passionate about working with parents to coach them about their child’s needs and developmental abilities and how to understand their children more fully, through doing their own reflective work.
